Remembering Martin Luther King – Jan 16 & 20
Celebrate the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. with closing ceremonies at Shove Chapel:
Wednesday, January 16, 2008 – Opening Ceremony is 10:00am – 11:15am.
Location: Colorado Springs City Auditorium.
Sunday, January 20, 2008 – Candlelight March starts at 5:00pm.
Location: Gather at downtown YMCA on Nevada Ave.
Closing Ceremony 6:00pm-7:30pm
Location: Shove Chapel at The Colorado College – 1010 N Nevada Ave, Colorado Springs, CO
The closing ceremony of this year’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration features student perspectives on “The Dream” and Keynote Speaker Dr. LaVonne Neal, Dean of Education, UCCS.
The mission of the celebration is to encourage and establish in our community, and to model for the world, what Dr. King called the “Beloved Community”-a social order based upon peace and justice, with the elimination of violence, racism, sexism, poverty and war.
